Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about creating custom workouts for your Wahoo device.

How do I create and send a custom workout to my Wahoo ELEMENT device?

Enter your current FTP, total ride duration, and a brief description (for example, "4×5 VO₂ max"), then click the arrow button (our logo). The workout generator builds your session, and when you're happy, hit Send to Wahoo—it syncs instantly to both your Wahoo head unit and the ELEMENT app.

Can I sync workouts directly to my Wahoo bike computer and phone app?

Absolutely. Once you've generated a workout, just tap Send to Wahoo. Your session is uploaded to Wahoo Cloud and appears under Structured Workouts on your head unit and in the ELEMENT app—no USB or manual file transfers.

How should I formulate prompts to get the best results?

You can be as precise or as open as you like:

- Precise: "10 min warm-up; 5×4 min at 115 % FTP with 3 min rest; 10 min cool-down." - Open: "I need VO₂ work in 90 min."

Experiment until you land on your perfect session!

What types of workouts can I create?

Any power-based structured session: VO₂ max intervals, threshold or tempo blocks, endurance rides, sprint efforts, sweet-spot training, pyramid workouts, or fully custom combinations. Describe your goal and duration, and the generator handles intervals, recovery, and power targets.

Do I need to know my FTP (Functional Threshold Power)?

Yes—workouts are currently steered by FTP (with heart-rate control coming soon). If you're unsure of your FTP, you can test it on your Wahoo device, estimate from recent hard efforts, or simply adjust intensity on the bike computer during your ride if it feels too hard or too easy.

Do I need a TrainingPeaks or TrainerRoad subscription, or a complicated workout builder?

No. You don't need a subscription or a clunky builder. Our text-based workout generator is free—no trials, no hidden fees. Just connect your account, craft your prompt, and click Send to Wahoo.

Can I tweak a workout after it's created?

Yes. The quickest way is to update your prompt and click the arrow button again—then hit Send to Wahoo. You'll get a fresh session synced in seconds.
